17 Great Apps For Awesome PromoLife Hacks

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

I won’t bore you with apps you probably already know about like CashApp, Acorn/Robinhood, Waze, Candy Crush, etc. That would be a waste of OUR time. Today, Rockstars, I created a list of apps that should help organize you better and relieve some stress. As you already know, in the experiential marketing industry, you are your own secretary, you’re your own personal assistant, you are your own booking manager/agent, the employee and the CEO. That’s allot of hats to wear.

As you read down my list, please know that these are screenshots from my non-Android tablet. But all of these apps are available in the Android Play Store. I checked myself because my cell phone is an Android. Also, you may notice that I didn’t download all the apps on this list. Why? Because the app isn’t applicable to me. But that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be applicable to you. So I listed the apps highly recommended by my trusted close friends, my promo friends, my mentor, family, sorority sisters and fraternity brothers.

Keep in mind, I am not telling you all to download this whole list of apps. But what I am saying is find a good combination of apps that work for you, your lifestyle and workload.

MAINTAIN HOBBIES ON THE ROAD While traveling, sometimes it gets boring. You’re working events and you’re in cities that you may not be familiar with. All you and the team can seem to do is find an Applebee’s and post up all night or make best of a hole in the wall #noShade. Also, you get out of wack with regular hobbies you’re into but can’t access to while on the road. These apps should help get you on the road to bridging that gap.

ALLTRAILS

Type: Outdoor Activity/ Hobby Locator

For those who love the outdoors. You will love this app. As you see, I’m not an outdoorsy person so I didn’t download this app. However, my fraternity brother uses it all the time when he travels. You basically put in your location and the results are of what’s local to do in the outdoors. It also gives you trail routes, hiking navigations, off-route alerts, and more all according to your fitness level. This app is awesome for runners, hikers, nature walkers, bikers, etc. Not a hard concept but highly impactful in giving you back something you were into when back home.

AIRBNB

Type: Events Marketplace

Yes for lodging accommodations. But I listed it because Airbnb now has a feature called “EXPERIENCES”. This is where locals put together experiences that happens in their hometown that you don’t find on google plus these locals act as your host through the entire experience. Like your personal event host. I’ve seen Experiences, for example, where a D.J. created an experience to give you a lesson on the turn tables, then he got you into VIP and access to party in the DJ booth with him. Cool right. I saw another Experience host by a local foodie and she arranged a Thanksgiving style food tasting at her favorite Mediterranean restaurant. while you eat, she explains the culture and history behind the foods you are tasting. Super neat. Airbnb vets all the hosts and approves all of the Experience events listed on the site. All you do is type in the city you’re interested in and search the list AND you don’t have to be renting an Airbnb to book an Experience.

GROUPON

Type: Savings Marketplace

Allot of folks tend to forget that you can get good deals on Groupon other than food. Allot theme parks run great deals as well as paint ball fields and more. Need your nails done, feet rub from standing all day at these events, better deals on hotel rooms, etc. Don’t count Groupon out. Plus you can accumulate savings points to use on future purchases.

iExit

Type: Travel, Attractions Tracker

For those who travel or tour, this app lets gives you a list of all the attractions that you will pass on your trip to your destination (giving you the chance to have more fun while still on the road). Once you select the attractions that interest you, the app will also create an itinerary of your trip with the attractions scheduled in.

SAVE ON MONEY!

Let’s talk money. The whole reason we do these events is to earn income but more importantly be able to keep money in our pockets at the same time. Sometimes we overspend because it’s convenient and let’s be honest, who’s 👏gonna 👏check 👏you! Nonetheless, let me make it easier for you to be more financial coherent.

BUDGETING...

YNAB (You Need A Budget)

PocketGuard

Mint

Type: Budget/Finance Tracker

Currently I am trying to figure which best fits my personal standards and style. But the key thing to take away from the functionality of these apps is that they track your spending by having you log in to all your financial accounts (Banking, credit cards, points rewards, etc.). Any time you use any account, the app logs it into a report to show you where every cent of your money is going. Each app allows you to create a budget and generates reports on overspending, expenses you’ve saved on, etc.

This way, the money you earn from events can be more productive towards your financial goals.

SAVING ON FUEL...

GETUPSIDE

Type: Fuel Tracker

This app is better in certain cities than others but it’s because it is a new and upcoming app. So it’s more relevant in major cities. I am a systematic type individual and I am a creature of habit. I didn’t download this app because I live about 28 miles outside the city and I go to the same gas station location. That location have the cheapest gas by at least a quarter than any other gas station I see while out and about in the city. The app doesn’t offer a cheaper option for my area. But my friends don’t live on the outskirts like I do so they use the app.

GAS BUDDY

Type: Fuel Tracker

Believe it or not, there are still some aliens who haven’t heard of this app: GasBuddy. This app uses your current location to pull up gas station near you and list the most recent reported fuel prices. You can sort the list by price or distance.

QUICK TIP: If you have the Waze app, it has a feature in its app that does the same thing so you don’t have to download yet another app on your phone. But I haven’t decided between Waze and Gas Buddy, which is more accurate. I feel like it depends on what city you are in. But as you already know, when I am at home, I don’t really use fuel apps.

MENTAL WELLNESS

DAYLIO

Type: Mood Tracker

I was recommended this app by a work bestie! I love this app. At the end of each day, you log your overall mood in an emoji. The app then asks you about the activities you’ve done that day. It also gives you the option to add custom activities that they may not have listed. And then you can write a note about that day if you want and then submit. It takes no more than 2 minutes to log your mood. Over time (give it a month), your reports will give you better understanding about what stresses you most, which days seem to be your good days and it pinpoints different factors could be pulling down your mood. It has become so much easier to detox emotionally with app. Use it. It works!

CALM

Type: Sleep App

I absolutely love Calm. I know there are plenty others like it but I’m in love with this app. It plays music, read books and has nature playings all created and compose to induce a natural mental calmness. And this apps has different categories to address different circumstances you may want to achieve a calm state of mind and atmosphere such as for sleep, for focus, for mediation, etc. My grandmother had passed and my mom was having a TERRIBLE time sleeping. I told her to download the app and let it play while she sleeps. She called me that next morning telling me how she couldn’t believe the sleep she got.

PACKPOINT

Type: Travel

This app generates a packing list for you based off the type of trip or activity you are about to do. It asks you a few questions about what you’re going to be doing and within a few questions, it will generate a packing list. Now you can lessen the worry of forgetting something at home and having to do those Walmart trips once you get to your destination.

HEALTH

I’m sure you have plenty of apps that tell you what your symptoms mean and other apps that track your calories and steps so I only want to list a few apps here that are important to me personally. But I encourage you if you haven’t already to find a health tracker app for just in case situations you may end up at the doctor, you have notes that could greatly assist your doctor. In this industry, we always seem on the go and our days blur together. These trackers help a great deal!

MIGRAINE BUDDY

Type: Migraine Tracker

I get migraines bad and this tracker has helped me track my migraines, narrow down my true triggers, alerts me of pressure notifications of my area, post articles related to the migraines I log, track the lengths of my migraines, creates reports and educates new about new research. And the first page when you log in is how many days you’ve been without a migraine. That’s my favorite part among other things.

FLO PERIOD AND OVULATION TRACKER

Type: Menstrual Cycle Tracker

This app tracks your cycle, alerts you when to start preparing for your cycle, educates you about hygiene, cycle patterns and new research. Along with tracking your ovulation periods, etc. I love this app too!

YOUR MOBILE OFFICE

TAXBOT

Type: Accounting

First before I get started. I wouldn’t recommend downloading this app from the App Store because if you subscribe sometimes the App Store takes the money but you can’t log in because Taxbot haven’t gotten the payment yet. And delays like this are a pain so use this link to access the download link.

https://taxbot.com/z/2w2ppt/?affiliate=257973

Anyhoo, Taxbot tracks everything you need. It tracks your tax deductions in real time, your mileage, your profits and losses, your expenses and also allows you to tie your entry to each job/source you have. For example, I have this blog, rideshare, my nonprofit and art. When I log an entry, I can tell Taxbot which job to list my entry under. At the end of the year or each month, you can print out a report of everything you or your tax preparer would need to file your taxes.

IFTTT

Type: Automated Personal Assistant

IFTTT stands for If This Than That. It’s an app that allows you to set a “formula” to perform a task that you set. For example, since I’m cold-nature’s, my house is always warm. I get up and get dressed only to step outside and it’s cold to meeeeeee. So I set a formula for IFTTT to send me a text message at 7am if the weather channel website report the temperature low to 69 degrees or lower. So IF THIS happens THEN do THAT. Get it? And the possibities are endless! Another example, in the winter I invested in getting a Nest smart thermostat for my apartment to help regulate my gas bill. The Nest let’s me program times to change the temperature and etc.: warm in the morning before my wake up time because I hate getting out of bed into cold air, then it’s programmed to lower the temperature around the time I head out for work, then another temperature change happens around the time I am on my way home from work and then again when I go to bed. I know. That’s allot but whatever. LOL. The problem was sometimes I would come home earlier than normal and the house is cold because Nest was programmed to warm up the house at a later time. Well, I IFTTT that IF I am within 10 miles of my home/Nest, THEN warm up the house to 74 degrees. And I have never walked into a cold house ever again! Like I said the possibilities are endless!

CAMSCAN

Type: Mobile Document Scanner

The CamScannet lets you take a picture of a document and convert it into a fullsize document that you can email to yourself or however it needs to be sent to. If you are signing documents and can’t make copies to keep for yourself, use the CamScanner. If you are signing a timesheet for an event and you want a record for yourself, use CamScanner. And so forth. Really great app!
