What It Takes To Be A Brand Ambassador
You will get a ton of different answers to this but here are some things those in the industry forget to tell you because we're used to it by now lol.
You Must Be Able To Handle Rejection Over & Over & Over Again
you won't get every event you apply for so it's okay to apply for events that happen on the same day because you can only book one event for each shift you're available for. You'll learn how to wait on certain events you are aiming for and you'll learn when to pull the trigger on accepting bookings. But there will be events you really want to work and may not get every time. This kind of rejection can be discouraging, but it's a part of the game.
The other rejection you encounter will be once you've gotten booked and finally working the event. Some consumers will see you and not respond to your friendly greeting. Some people only know how to say no by ignoring that you were even talking to them. Some consumers will look you in your face and turn as if they didn't see you. Do not take it personally. Many of them return once they see other consumers stepping into your footprint anyway. So do be discouraged but it can be strange at first.
You Got To Be A Generally Happy Person
If not, you'll get bored and the shift gets even longer when you're bored in this way. You'll meet a lot of people who naturally can turn on their sunlight and shine for the brand they're representing during that activation. No matter what position you're in, it's easy working in this industry for those who can find the happiness within themselves because some of the events you work will have you navigating through events that didn't have its vendors in mind. If you ask me, if you don't think that being a brand ambassador is fun overall, you may be in the wrong industry.
You Must Know How To Bring The Energy
Every activation has their own expectations but the bottom line remains the same. You must be able to generate the right energy that the client is expecting for the consumers are the event to experience. Use the talking points given to you and maintain the energy.
CONCLUSION: Working in the promo world is a whole vibe!
