In this industry it is important to find ways to save money, energy and time. Here are some hacks my promo friends and I do to live our best promo life!
Running Late To TSA
It happens sometimes. You're running late to get to the airport for whatever reason and you finally get to the airport to see it is packed. People and long lines everywhere and you still have to get through TSA. Ideally, your objective is to go through the TSA line that is closest to your gate to prevent any extra walking. However, when you're running late, the objective becomes getting through TSA. With everyone else sticking to the original objective of going through the TSA line closest to their gate this in turn means that the majority of people are flying on premium-type airlines. This leaves the TSA lines closest to the cheap airlines (i.e. Spirit) will have shorter TSA lines.
Yes, doing this hack may land you further from your assigned gate but you cant control how fast you get to your gate after you've went through TSA. However, you cant control how fast TSA will go once it's your turn to be in line.
But beware because not all airports have multiple TSA lines (such as Denver's Airport). Whereas, airports like the ones in Atlanta or Chicago do.
Need A Place To Park Before You Fly Out?
There are times when you can't find a ride to the airport and rideshare pricing is getting out of control, so you opt to drive yourself and park your car at the airport's parking lot. But the parking costs be taxing! Many will tell you to reserve your parking space online because it's cheaper most times than waiting to do it in person at the gate. Other will tell you to park at the hotels that have shuttles to the airport (I wouldn't do that though because that's too risky for me). However, a promo friend of mine parks at the nearby hotel IF IF IF IF IF it's a convention center because the traffic of vehicles coming in and out is to frequent to monitor which vehicles belong to guests or not.
But beware it's all a risk of being towed. And we'll leave it at that. And we'll go even further to say don't do it even though we do it.
Booked At An AirBnB? Food eating through your budget?
If you're ever staying at an AirBnB or an extended stay or somewhere that gives you access to an oven, you're in luck. One thing about traveling is the money spent on food. Food can easily chew through your budget. All of the eating out and fast food adds up. Grocery chain stores offer options such as prep meals you can put in the oven and prepare for yourself. It's healthy and a piece of home. You can find these options near the butcher/meat department. These meals range from $6 to $8 and the instructions are on the back. For most of them, all you have to do is remove the plastic wrap and take out the divider before you put it in the oven.
